"This album has been in the works for almost exactly 10 years. I began working on it in 1998, focusing mostly on Arabic and Urdu content. Over the years, as I read more English translations of the poetic works of earlier generations of Muslims, I started writing and composing songs in English. This proved very difficult at times - it took me five years to get a complete idea of what I wanted 'The Sound Of Tears' to sound like. At other times, it proved surprisingly easy - I remember writing 'The Quest' in an inspired mid-afternoon hour in Toronto on July 21st, 2001. A similar moment on a busy Dubai freeway was where I wrote 'Take My Hand' in 2005 (I pulled over to do the actual writing, in case you were wondering).

Getting the actual production going was frustrating at first. I may have given up hope along the way, had it not been for the consistent support and encouragement of many, many people, and had Allah not shown me time and again that my work was adding real tangible value to the lives of others.

I've done quite a bit of experimentation here, whether it's singing Urdu naats and songs in Arabic and Persian melodic modes, or singing English lyrics to distinctly Turkish tunes. I hope it proves both enjoyable and inspirational to all listeners."

About the Artist
Nader Mohammed Khan is a Canadian Muslim singer & songwriter who's been singing all his life - from his birth in Hyderabad, India, to the many stops the caravan of his life took until he arrived in Canada in the early 90's. Singing is a part of him and a passion.

He attended the University of Toronto (UTSC) and graduated at the turn of the century with a degree in Management and Economics. Throughout his time at university and also upon graduating, he remained actively engaged with the Muslim community on and off campus, whether it\'s running the campus MSA, making a memorable cameo appearance in a children's educational video series, teaching basic fiqh and tajweed to teenagers at Islamic summer camps, singing backing and lead vocals in studio recordings and staged concerts, or conducting orientation workshops and seminars for first year university students. Somewhere in the midst of all this, he managed to get married and is now the father of two.

Nader has performed live with various artists such as Ustadh Adnan Srajeldin and Dawud Wharnsby-Ali. He is widely-traveled and has spent time with people from a broad variety of cultures and tradtions throughout his life. This is reflected in his work through the fusion of various genres, and the blending of many different styles, tunes, rhythms and modes.

Nader lives in the east end of the glorious city of Toronto. He sings in English, Arabic, and Urdu. His first album was released in December 2008 in Toronto.
